Our Vision
At Sikh Youth Australia, we believe that young Sikhs have the potential to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. Our vision is to create a world by empowering the Sikh Youth to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
Our Mission
SYA’s mission is to empower the Sikh community, fostering their identity and active contribution to Australian society. Through diverse events and activities, we cultivate a welcoming space where young Sikhs can embrace their Sikh heritage and culture, refine leadership skills, and be part of an enthusiastic community that upholds Sikh values and traditions.
Our dedication to the community is evident through our core initiatives, which encompass nurturing youth, empowering young adults to become exemplary citizens, and striving for overall community improvement.
Our Values
SYA upholds values of empowerment, unity, cultural preservation, and active community engagement to foster a strong and vibrant Sikh Youth community. Some of the principles that guide and support the achievement of our vision are as follows:
Faith: Our unwavering dedication towards Sikhism is rooted in the philosophy and universal wisdom enshrined in the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Culture and Identity: We value promoting, understanding and recognition of Sikh culture, identity, and heritage in our local and wider Australian community.
Embracing Diversity: We believe in a socially inclusive path involving people from all backgrounds upholding every individual’s belief and perspective.
Youth Investment and Social Capital Building: We invest in our Young Sikh Community as they hold the key to the future of the community, and we dedicate to fostering talent, cultivate leadership skills, encouraging creativity, and inspiring innovation among the vibrant Australian Sikh Youth community.
Equality: Sikhism, a democratic faith, places significant importance on an individual and treats everyone equally, irrespective of age, gender, race, or ethnic background. SYA upholds all individuals, religions, and communities with equality at our core.
Sewa (Selfless Service): We believe in serving others and making a positive difference in the world with Sewa or Selfless Service, which embodies compassionately serving others without any expectation of reward.
